Rapsbun School of Nursing with annual intake of ten students was started by the Sisters of the Congregation of Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, with its own administration. The administration of the School was handed over to the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1988 and is attached to Nazareth hospital. The School is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and is under the Meghalaya State Nursing council.

The school has expanded over the years and the annual intake of students has increased to 35 with training period of 3 1/2 years duration. Besides the academic training, the School is concerned about the personality development of each student in moral and spiritual values. Keeping this in mind the students are given appropriate inputs. The students take active participation in the extracurricular activities organized at the unit, State and national level for which they won laurels for the school.

The most recent highlights are the State level Student Nurse’s Association Conference 2002 and 2004, where they won the award for the “Best Active Unit”. At the National Biennial Conferences of Student Nurse’s Association of India, in Kerala 2002 and Tamil Nadu 2004 they received the award for “Most Active Nursing School”. From 1979 till date the school has been excelling in its academic and extracurricular performances. The school takes pride in saying that few of its past students have climbed the heights to Graduate and Post Graduate Degrees in Nursing Profession.
